Why it costs more to buy Bengal kittens than other breeds?
There are many who seemes Bengal kittensare expensive to buy compared to other breeds.
The reason that Bengal cats may be slightly more expensive is that it is a relatively new and popular race.
There are not many who sell these beautiful cats and the demand is great.
A breeder will usually have breeding cats with good show lines (pedigree) and this costs.
For a serious breeder would never breed of poor quality!
Since there are large costs associated with the importation of cats, this help to raise the price of the kittens.
And the purchase of breeding cats is no reasonable action.
Should you have a good breeding pair you must be at least out of 18 000 - 20 000 NOK pr cat.
In addition, all required vaccinations for entry to the country.
One must also out with some thousand to airlines to get the cat to homeland.
Then of course the quality of the kitten is into the picture and all the expenses for veterinary, food, toys, shows, etc..
So as you see there are many expenses in running a serious breeding program.
There are some who sell affordable Bengals.
And we are talking about the people who make bengal babies for the money and do not take into account to improve the breed.
Any good breeder will strive to get closer to the Bengals standard, not to make money!
One can of course be lucky to come across a great cat that may not be used for breeding / show due to small errors of the bite or tail kinks, but that's really great to watch at a reasonable price.
But even these cats will be at 5000-6000NOK
And if you come across an offer that is too good to be true...-it is
probably just what it is.
When you find a breeder you could imagine to buy you new family member from, be careful and do get to know the breeder before you make any decisions.
There are unfortunately some disreputable breeders all around the world.
And the internett comection har made it very easy to get scamed. If you buy from abroad you need to pay the kitten before it get shipped. This is a big trust isue! -and some people take advantage of this. If the cattery is well known or is know in a good way from other breeders, this is usualy a good sign!
Take time to have good communication with the seller and ask questions!
Find out how they work with their program, etc. so that you feel sure this is right for you.
